Astros release: Jose Albertos P CHC Adrian Hernandez OF NYM Astros add: JT Brubaker P PIT Ty France 3B SD Ty France was previously on someone else's 40 man roster it appears, so my understanding is that he would need to be added to your 40 man instead of a minor league pick up |

My understanding is that once they have an MLB at bat, they can’t be. But if they were on someone’s 40 man roster with no MLB service time, then once they were released and passed through 48-hour waivers, then they default BACK to OFF the 40 man roster.
