After having had a discussion with another mod last night concerning this trade... Rosters are indeed locked during FAA. This means only mlb players who can be added to 40 man rosters are through Free Agent signings...Therefore, this trade will be vetoed at this time...If after the FAA is completed you wish to go through with this deal then you can repost it or amend it...

FYI - trades were allowed during last year’s FA Auction. Did something change?

I believe it was a new rule implemented very recently due to having enough roster movement to watch with FAA, and the fact teams were trading cap space during FAA on current bids going on. Something like that

Maybe that should be somewhere in the constitution rather than a private conversation dictating it.
"Players on your 40 man roster can be traded any time except between the in-season trade deadline and the completion of our post season tournament.".

I havent had discussion with this personally, but I think trades should be allowed untill constitution says other wise

I havent had discussion with this personally, but I think trades should be allowed untill constitution says other wise I completely understand y'alls sentiment on this subject...If i had my way, i'd agree to this deal as well..However, The Calendar was posted for this year(2019) since at least early Nov if not earlier. It states that there is a 40 man lock during FAA... I know it was discussed in mod discussion as a way to control the movement of players during this time since it's really tough to manage the FAA... Especially since most of us if not all work during the days. Speaking for myself, it's something i can't look at closely til i get home after a 12 hour work day.... The FAA is a fluid situation and it was thought that having trades during this period puts an undo pressure/burden to the mods to vote and edit this along with the FAA. We all saw what happened during the Rule V draft and it's poor implementation a month ago...In discussing this with another mod it was agreed that some teams going into the FAA knew about the 40 man roster lock and created a strategy towards that end.. By unlocking the 40 man rosters three days into the auction isn't fair to these teams either...So, to be fair to those teams, the veto stays in place...for this year...Hopefully, a fair solution can be brought about for next year...What would help going forward, is everyone help audit the FAA..If someone see's an error please point it out so myself or another mod can correct the issue...I made a mistake earlier in the bidding on Johnny Cueto...My bad..But 40 eyes are better than 2...thx and good luck the rest of the auction...

Can we just put it through once rosters unlock then....honestly trading should be fine....it’s no adds or promotions ..... there is not a lock on trading in mlb offseason is there

Also, if it’s a true lock, then I want to see drops not allowed either Teams need to make space before FAA begins....then! No more bids with “then drop player A”

From the Constitution:
"Players on your 40 man roster can be traded any time except between the in-season trade deadline and the completion of our post season tournament."
"This lock will stay in place until the conclusion of our off season free agent auction. You may release players at any time during the offseason to make room for rule V acquisitions or players drafted in the free agent draft, but you may not add free agents. You may not remove players from your 40 man as, since you cannot add any players to your 40 man, no one would be able to claim them as they pass through waivers."
1) No where in the Constitution does it say teams are not allowed to trade during a roster lock. It even goes as far to say the opposite. 2) Teams have always been able to trade during the FAA Auction.
This is a mis-interpretation of the rule, in my opinion. Something similar happened when we were told we could not bid on released V players during the auction (later corrected). The best way to avoid these types of situations in the future is to a) go only by what the Constitution states and/or 2) change the Constitution to reflect the unwritten rules.
Vetoing this trade isn't a big deal in the long run, but enforcing implicit rules on a subjective basis is a bad habit to start.
