Dellin Betances RP NYY
Boston receives
2nd round pick (Tor)
CJ Chatham SS Bos.
I needed to trade one of my relievers for salary cap reasons. I decided on Betances mostly because he is a Yankee (lol), but i will miss the holds and ton of K's he gives. Being on the Yankees should continue to provide plenty of opportunities for holds and possibly saves in the next few seasons. Thanks Dan for the deal.

Before this trade goes thru just an FYI... I’m auditing the spreadsheet and found some issues with salaries of players from the 3-5 year service time frame... Betances is one of them...I was gonna finish this audit tonight and send results to Josh...

Its going to be less then a 2 million dollar difference in cap dollars. I will give up Chatham if he wants to finalize the deal still. Not overly happy that I have a deal in place and the numbers might be changing after the fact. Totally understand that people make mistakes though.

The deal was in the works before today. Plus you didn't mention that you already told Pitt. about my roster players being incorrect. I thought you were just complaining like you usually do. lol

lol, I thought it was funny anyway. Honestly, I didnt understand you were trying to help me over this, so I thought it wasn't really an issue.
On a secondary note. the arb. calculation is not really fair for relievers in general. If we used the player rater, his salary would be only 3 million this year. Another thing is that MLB is always changing, the player rater accounts for that but the arb. calculation we use hasn't changed. K's are up, HR are up, QS are down ect. ect..

Please look at the Announcement section...The Constitution is put in for a reason...Those are the rules in place and to change them to suit a debate point of view is counterproductive.

The reason for a constitution is to set fair guidelines for everyone involved. Amendments are made when they dont serve the purpose anymore. I was just pointing out that the discrepancy that is going on when an arbitration player is being given a salary way above what a vet would make. (example Betances 8.1 mil vs 3 mil) Vets almost always get more money then arbitration players, and that is why the arb. calculation was set up that way. Just pointing out that its not working correctly anymore at its current numbers. Not looking to change anything this year to suit my view point, but its something to think about next year anyway.
