Pirates acquire the tag rights of Jonathan Villar (expires 2024), Orioles will retain the contract length & salary for duration of contract (end of 2024)
Orioles will send Dane Myers OF MIA & prospect Tom Harrington SP PIT.
Orioles agree, needed to clear a tag spot for offseason Free Agency.

Just so I get this if I’m reading this right. You can now cover salaries in future years as you part of a deal? I don’t remember this being done before

I don’t remember this being done before wasn't trading the player (he is released at the moment, slumming around the Mexican league ala Kenny Powers), just his tag, just making it clear in the trade talk that I am still liable for the salary as he was a V contract. |
